Manchester United summer target Palermo striker Paulo Dybala has dealt a blow to the Red Devils by saying he would swim to Catalonia if Barcelona came knocking.

The 21-year-old Argentinian striker has been on fire this season in Italy’s top flight scoring 12 goals in 24 appearances for the Sicilian club to make himself one of next summer’s top targets with Manchester United, Juventus, Napoli ,Borussia Dortmund, Manchester City and Barcelona all interested in getting his signature.

When asked by Buenos Aires based Radio Belgrano if he would be interested in playing for Barcelona the young striker said: ‘Would I be open to a move to Barcelona? I would swim to Barcelona if they came knocking.

‘I wouldn’t even have to change into my swimming gear. After all, I would only have to cross the Mediterranean Sea.’

Just a month ago during an interview with Italian sport magazine Guerin Sportivo Dybala admitted that the two teams he would like to play for were Barcelona and Manchester City, after Palermo club president Maurizio Zamparini said his style of play was similar to City’s Sergio Aguero.

He said: ‘When I play with the PlayStation, I always choose Barcelona or Manchester City.

‘I dream to play one day with one of those clubs.’

This will not put off Manchester United however, after scouts were seen watching him play against Inter Milan last month.
