It was another awful display for Manchester United at Turf Moor where they play out a goalless draw with their host Burnley.

New British record signing, Angel Di Maria made his debut but couldn’t inspire the Reds.

Louis Van Gaal is yet to record a win since the beginning of the season with his 4-0 loss to Mk Dons highlighting Manchester United lack of potency and confidence.

Manchester United now has two points from their first three English Premier League matches leaving them down the log which definitely will put the team under much pressure.

Starting the season with a home loss to Swansea City and struggled to draw at the Stadium of Light against Sunderland, the Burnley fixture was important for Manchester United to get back to winning ways with new signing Angel Di Maria expected to boost the morale of the team.

Unfortunately for Van Gaal and his boys, Burnley neutralized their threats and got a deserved point in a match United fans were left with fingers in their mouth.

The display was simply not top notch from the Red Devils despite having appealed for a late penalty when Ashley Young’s shot struck Ashley Barnes hands with the referee not interested in the protest.

Angel Di Maria was the liveliest player on the pitch in the first 45 minutes creating two notable chances for both Robin van Persie and Juan Mata which both failed to convert.

The midfielder replaced Tom cleverly in the starting line-up but eventually got substituted when he was replaced by Anderson in the 68th minute of play.

Manchester United defence maintained their inconsistency and the question as to whether the present crop of defenders has what it takes to be in Manchester United is still in the air.

Phil Jones gave a needless free-kick away which saw David Jones hitting the woodwork from the resulting set piece.

David De Gea who seemed to be the most reliable in the heart of the defence came to save Manchester United by saving Jutkiewicz shot with his legs which came as a result of a poor pass from Jonny Evans.

De Gea was on hand again to save from David Jones’ half volley when he brilliantly punched the ball away from his goal.

The closest Manchester United came in the second half was Robin Van Persie’s shot cleared off the line by Dean Marney after a brilliant run by Angel Di Maria.

Robin Van Persie, Juan Mata and Angel Di Maria were all substituted later and the substitutes added little or nothing as the game wore out with both sides unable to get a goal.

Manchester United improved in their forward play but the duo of Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young were Manchester United major undoing as they couldn’t produce anything from the flanks.

Valencia seem not to have any idea in what he was doing while Ashley Young made good runs and ended up going out of ideas with his final delivery.

Robin Van Persie seems not to be fit enough and the 3-5-2 formation is definitely not working for Manchester United for now.

A change in system might bring back the entertainment and results Manchester United is known for.
