Manchester United fans rally around Moyes

Manchester United fans showed their faith in under fire manager David Moyes by applauding the Scot and booing a tow plane carrying a banner calling for him to be replaced just after kick-off.

Moyes came out earlier than usual to take his spot in the United dugout, and was greeted by fans in all corners of the stadium before as was anticipated the banner plane flew over with the message ‘Wrong One – Moyes Out.’

A group of unhappy United fans clubbed together £840 for the banner to be towed over Old Trafford, yet rather than being embraced by the United faithful the majority in the stadium booed the plane as the banner flew over, followed by chants of there is only ‘One David Moyes’ from the Stretford end.

When asked about the banner Moyes said: “You just have to remain focused on the game – and that’s what we have done.

“It is going to happen but I think, for the people who have spent money on the plane, it would have been better served by putting it into Darren Fletcher’s colitis charity instead.”
