Manchester City to pay Barcelona 200€ million for Messi

Spanish business newspaper El Confidencial is reporting that Manchester City is preparing a 200 million euro bid for Barcelona’s Lionel Messi.

According to the story Manchester City has approached Messi’s father Jorge and told him they are willing to meet the Argentineans 200€ million buyout clause in his Barcelona contract which if true will also have French giants Paris Saint-Germain following events closely.

Along with the talk of a possible move there is also a mention that Messi is not happy at Barcelona and has removed himself from his Barcelona teammates.

It is not too far-fetched to imagine the La Liga star moving to the Etihad especially when you consider that the two men who would be in charge of making it happen are Ferran Soriano and Txiki Begiristain who used to work with Messi at the Nou Camp.

El Confidential also mentions the fact that City would be willing to bump up the 26-year-olds salary to a whopping 25 million euro’s per-season.

Should PSG try to land Messi they would almost certainly sell Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but would then come up against strict tax laws in France that would need some looking into should they decide to compete with Manchester City in signing a player whose name and face is known throughout the world.

At the end of the article the Spanish newspaper adds that Barcelona is currently trying to put together another extension in Messi’s contract so that they do not risk losing him to the Qatari backed Manchester City or PSG.
