Germany, Ozil

Most Arsenal fans are aware by now that Mesut Özil got booed off the pitch last night in Stuttgart despite providing the assist that led to Mario Goetz’s 16th minute winner.

What you must remember though he was just taking the brunt of the German fans anger after paying good money to watch a lousy German performance that no matter whom from the team had been substituted would have gotten the same reaction from the fans as Özil did.

Team captain Philipp Lahm was not worried by the crowd’s reaction saying: “That was a lucky win. I can understand the jeers and whistles. People pay good money to watch us and it’s clear that we have a lot of work to do before the World Cup. But we always prepare well for a World Cup, so I am not worried.” He told the Daily Mail.

Vice-captain Bastian Schweinsteiger also added his comments saying: ‘A win’s a win, Chile were really good.

‘We didn’t use our chances and we really have to improve but Chile are after all one of the best teams in South America.’

England also put in a very lacklustre display in their 1-0 win over Denmark, and if you think Germany were bad just think back to last November when Chile played England at Wembley winning 2-0.

Chile is a good team and at odds of 50/1 to win the World Cup they could be worth a couple of quid as an outsider who on their day can beat the best.
