Manchester City has submitted a fresh bid for Liverpool want away forward Raheem Sterling according to the Daily Star in what is seen as an attempt to stop the 20-year-old from being forced to go on Liverpool’s preseason tour of Australia and the Far East.

The team jets off today for their opening match against the Thai All Stars in Bangkok, and City is hoping that their latest offer will be enough for Liverpool to keep him off the plane.

The bid as expected is said to be £40 million plus add-ons but is still shy of the £50 million Liverpool has said they want to receive for the England international.

We will let you know how this story develops over the coming hours.
