French Champions Paris Saint-Germain has let Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal know that they would be willing to let right-back Gregory van der Wiel move to Old Trafford for £7 million.

With just one-year remaining on his contract at the Parc des Princes the 27-year-old could prove to be a viable option as Barcelona’s Dani Alves does a U-turn to remain at the Nou Camp signing a new two-year deal with the European champions.

In other Manchester United related transfer news, striker Robin van Persie says that the club will spend big in order to challenge for next seasons Premiership title.

He said: ‘United spent £200m on players last year and they are going to spend another £200m this summer so we will have a team that can compete for the title.’
