World Cup winner will be at Arsenal next season

With one-year remaining on his current contract at Arsenal, German striker Lukas Podolski thinks that he will be playing at the Emirates next season following a season long loan spell at Inter Milan.

The 30-year-old World Cup winner was unimpressive in Italy scoring just one goal for the Serie A club, which was much less than was expected from the Arsenal striker.

“There’s bound to be speculation in the coming weeks, but at the moment it looks like I will be going back to London,” he said.

“Things can always change, but if needs be I will remain at Arsenal next season.

“They are a great club and I think I can help them. I can confirm there has been no interest from Werder Bremen.”

Podolski went on to say that he too was disappointed with his lack of goals adding: “You can take experience from everywhere you play abroad, even if it was not my best year from a sporting perspective.

“But I still have many years ahead of me and a burning desire to play football.”

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger however will be looking to sell Podolski to raise money to sign Jackson Martinez from Porto, but given Podolski’s recent form and his hefty £100,000 per-week salary selling him on may prove to be quite difficult.
