Liverpool has come out and said that star striker Luis Suarez will not be sold on the cheap despite having to undergo a four-month ban imposed on him by FIFA after he bit Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini on the shoulder.

La Liga side Barcelona were said according to the Daily Star preparing an £80 million bid for the 27-year-old that would have seen Chilean international striker Alexis Sanchez move to Anfield.

Now that the FIFA ban has been announced we will see the Uruguayan miss at least 12-club games early next season.

The Catalan giants who by the way still want Suarez feel as though they may be able to get him at a discounted price will continue to plot their next move.

Liverpool for their part will not allow Suarez to leave on the cheap despite all his misgivings, yet reports out of Uruguay claim the British media is to blame for the lengthy ban and it may now be impossible for Suarez to ever play in the Premiership again.

Liverpool for their part does not want to make any knee-jerk reactions based on this latest incident and will seek specialist advice before commenting further.

Meanwhile FIFA claim that only Uruguay can appeal the ban despite it also effecting Suarez’s club football with Liverpool, something that is not going to go down well with the clubs owners in Boston who would argue that in that case the ban should only apply to international football.

A statement by Uruguayan FA president Wilmar Valdez said:”We are going to appeal today… there isn’t definitive evidence that allows us to say that this kind of sanction can be applied. It really seems like a completely exaggerated and abusive sanction.”

The situation should become clearer following the South Americans appeal, but if we learnt anything from the incident when Suarez bit Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic, Liverpool owner John W. Henry stuck by Suarez and the striker rewarded the club with 31-goals to become the league’s leading scorer despite having been banned for the first five games of the season.
