Liverpool will not offer Glen Johnson a new contract

Liverpool will not be offering Glen Johnson a new contract when his current £110,000 per-week deal comes to an end next summer according to the Sunday Star in what they call an Exclusive.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is said to have no plans of selling the 29-year-old preferring to let him play out his contract and leave as a free agent despite the fact that his sale could raise around £4 million.

Liverpool has been linked with Manchester City’s Micah Richards, but Rodgers is said to be trying to sign Seville’s Alberto Moreno for the left-back position.

Meanwhile Brazilian midfielder Lucas Leiva is playing down reports that he might be on his way to Inter Milan saying: “At the moment I have had no offers. Liverpool have never contacted me regarding this possibility.

“I can’t say there is a chance of me going to Inter because I am under contract at Liverpool.”
