Liverpool is currently monitoring Bundesliga pair Lars Stindl and Leonardo Bittencourt who both play for Hanover.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is tracking the progress of the two midfielders knowing that Captain Steven Gerrard will be leaving in the summer to join the LA Galaxy.

Add to this the fact that Brazilian Lucas Leiva is almost certain to leave after interest in him this January and the fact Real Madrid could sign Raheem Sterling leaving the Liverpool boss with a decimated midfield to rebuild.

26-year-old Stindl is a regular starter in the Hanover team and has scored 11 goals in 114 league appearances for the club, and with his contract up in less than 18-month Liverpool could pick him up cheaply by meeting his £2.2 million release clause.

Bittencourt will come a little more expensive after having joined Hanover in 2013 from Borussia Dortmund the 21-year-old German U-21 international would cost the Reds around £6 million.

Rodgers has indicated that he will not be making any signings this month despite Liverpool being linked with a few players, preferring to get the clubs business done in the summer.
