Liverpool are on the verge of doing a deal with French Ligue 1 side Lille that will see Belgium international striker Divock Origi cut his season-long loan short and return to Anfield.

The Reds signed the 19-year-old front man from Lille during the summer for £10 million, but part of the deal was he would remain with the French club until after the 2014/2015 season before moving to Merseyside.

Liverpool is desperate at the moment for a striker that can score goals despite having Mario Balotelli, Rickie Lambert and Fabio Borini available, so have decided to cut short Origi’s loan to give them added firepower for the second half of the season.

No deal is yet in place, but according to the Liverpool Echo the club is sure they can cut Origi’s loan short if they pay Lille £3 million in compensation.
