It would appear that Liverpool is now very close to signing Barcelona right-back Martin Montoya for a fee believed to be around £8.8 million for the 23-year-old.
Montoya has found it difficult to get playing time in Luis Enrique’s team and has for some time now being hinting about an exit from the Nou Camp in order to play first team football.
As for Liverpool, manager Brendan Rodgers has been looking for a replacement for England right-back Glen Johnson who looks odds on to be leaving Anfield this summer after having been offered a short-term contract with a huge cut in pay.
The now 30-year-old has been linked with Italian side AS Roma, while claims in Spain say Liverpool will announce a deal for Montoya in the coming days.
