If Liverpool can pull this off it will be a brilliant piece of business with the Reds having now revived their interest of Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk winger Yevhen Konoplyanka.

The Ukrainian international was on Liverpool’s radar during the January 2014 transfer window, but a last minute £15 million deal fell through.

This time around Liverpool can pick up Sterling’s replacement for nothing as the 25-year-old is now a free agent and would fit well within the Merseyside clubs wage structure.

This would leave Rodgers free to use the money gained from Sterling’s sale to completer the signing of Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke and also right-back Nathaniel Clyne from Southampton.
