In what may seem like a strange move it could in fact make sense for Liverpool to go after Manchester City forward Stevan Jovetic.

The 25-year-old Montenegrin international has fallen well down the pecking order in Manuel Pellegrini’s star-studded Manchester City team since his £22 million arrival from Fiorentina in 2013, and is now the fourth choice striker following the arrival of Wilfried Bony.

Jovetic has interest from Inter Milan, but may feel he has something to prove in the Premiership and could very well jump start his career on Merseyside, with the added bonus of being able to change clubs without having to move house, due to the fact both clubs are within a short driving distance of each other.

Jovetic could be a good play for Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers who will be hoping to get more from Mario Balotelli next season after a disappointing first year at Liverpool following his £16 million move from AC Milan.

Jovetic meanwhile is also expected to be available for £16 million meaning Liverpool gets both Balotelli and Jovetic for what they would have had to pay for Aston Villa’s Christian Benteke.
