Liverpool is the bookmaker’s favorites at 5/4 to sign West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino with Spurs second favorite at 4/1.

Despite all the interest in the young England international, new Baggies manager Tony Pulis says he has been assured by the club that they have as of yet received no offers for the 21-year-old.

“Berahino is a very talented boy,” Pulis said. “There is always going to be transfer speculation and you can see why. He has great pace, great balance and scores goals.

“But when I came in here the chairman had not received any offer for him and we will try our damnedest to try and improve him.

Pulis celebrated his first win at West Brom as they thumped Gateshead 7-0 in the FA Cup of which four goals came from Berahino who did not bother to celebrate which sparked further rumours of his unrest at the club.

Pulis was unconcerned over this talk, and was overall pleased with his new clubs performance.

“Someone just said he didn’t celebrate at all but it was lovely to see all the lads go over when we scored a goal – that showed a little bit of unity that we’ll need,” he added

“I haven’t trained with him, I haven’t worked with him, so I’ve got that to come, but he looks a very talented boy.

“I hope he keeps reading the (rumours) if he’s going to score four every week. You should go and see him in the dressing room – he’s more happy in there.”

West Brom is currently one point clear of the relegation zone and new coach Pulis has hinted at a busy transfer window.

“It’s a good start, but the real work starts on Monday,” he said. “We’ve got a difficult job on our hands – there are lots of clubs down there who are fighting for survival and we’re one of them

“The window’s important – it’s going to be a big window for us. We certainly need to strengthen the team and strengthen the squad and that’s what I’ll be looking for.”
