Chelsea’s billionaire owner Roman Abramovich has decided to try and bring Barcelona star Lionel Messi to Stamford Bridge in 2015, and is willing to spend £200 million to make it happen.

Numerous English clubs have tried to sign the Argentinian captain over the years, but have always been disappointed when Messi renewed his contract at the Nou Camp.

Reports coming out of Spain today, carried by the Sunday Express claim Abramovich is hoping that if manager Jose Mourinho can win the Premiership and the Champions League it might be enough to lure the 27-year-old away from Barcelona.

Despite Mourinho’s on-going concerns over the Financial Fair Play regulations, the Blues are expected to make a £200 million offer for one of the most recognised players in football.

“Because at this moment there is Financial Fair Play and with the Financial Fair Play we have to follow certain rules, certain numbers and we obviously have no conditions to buy, as you say a ‘super amazing player’ paid with ‘super amazing numbers’ that Chelsea at this moment we cannot do.”
