Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has rejected the idea that he could find himself short of players this summer with Johnson, Flanagan, Toure and Jones all due to become free agents.

Meanwhile Suso has joined AC Milan and Lucas could be on his way to Inter while Captain Steven Gerrard has already said he will be joining the LA Galaxy while five other players only have 18 months remaining on their current contracts.

Currently the club is involved in talks with Raheem Sterling and Philippe Coutinho two young players who are pivotal to the team’s future despite Rodgers slashing the wage bill since arriving from Swansea by getting rid of ten of the highest paid players Luis Suarez, Pepe Reina, Alberto Aquilani, Maxi Rodriguez, Andy Carroll, Craig Bellamy, Joe Cole, Dirk Kuyt, Daniel Agger and now Gerrard either sold or released.

All of these players earned at least £5 million per-year with the only one remaining being Glen Johnson who would be forced to take a big pay cut if wants to stay next season.

Rodgers however remains calm saying: “We can’t have three or four leaving – it is about the needs of the team.”

“The intention is to keep the senior players because of the mix of the group. For our young players to develop, they will need seniority around them. You can’t just have a group of young players.”
