Arsenal target Gabriel Paulista has been left out of the Villarreal squad due to play Levante in La Liga tonight giving further proof that a move to the Emirates is getting close.
The Yellow Submarine defender is not injured or suspended so dropping him from the team can mean that negotiations for the £15 million rated player are going well.
Earlier Wenger said: “The talks are progressing quite well with Villarreal for Paulista. We are talking at the moment and slowly progressing. We are ready to pay the price for a good player.
“We want the player and if he needs a work permit we will defend it now.”
