We have all read about football violence in South America, but it is pretty bad when someone gets attacked for no reason other than one of your family member’s player for the opposing team.
This latest incident happened last night during the Copa America final between Chile and Argentina at Santiago’s Estadio Nacional, and involved the family of world superstar Lionel Messi, with reports saying his brother Rodrigo was hit by an opposing fan as the first-half was coming to an end.
Supporters of the home side were to blame after a verbal exchange got out of hand, leading to the violence which also affected the family of Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero.
The match eventually finished 0-0 after extra-time, with Chile going on to win 4-1 on penalties.
