Let’s kick-off this morning’s talk with a rather cosmopolitan rumour from an Italian newspaper that claims a Spanish winger is on his way to Anfield.

Italian daily Corriere dello Sport claims Liverpool are plotting a move for Real Madrid winger Lucas Vazquez with Kop boss Jürgen Klopp supposedly a big fan of the 24-year-old after having watched him play while on loan at Espanyol last season.

The Italian rag claims that Liverpool would be able to pick him up for a reasonable fee of just £3.2 million.

In other Liverpool related transfer news goalkeeper target Marc-Andre Ter Stegen is going nowhere according to his Barcelona teammate Gerrard Pique who says the German shot-stopper will not be leaving the Nou camp.

“Since you’re asking me, Ter Stegen isn’t going. No one wants to leave Barcelona,” the former Manchester United centre-back told Mundo Deportivo.

“We are Barca, and to be at this club is the greatest happiness a player could have. This club, this city, this fan base, we have it all. I’m convinced everyone will stay.”

Makes a change not to find any stories relating to a German player moving to Merseyside today, and as for the talk of Lewandowski over the weekend we will not even comment as it is too far-fetched to imagine.
