Arsenal, Liverpool

It was not the kind of news Gooners were waiting to read when they found out that the club was poised to make their first signing of the summer and that it was in fact to be a former player Carlos Vela for the meagre sum of £3.8 million.

Other clubs are getting down to business despite the World Cup kicking off in two days’ time and yet here Arsenal is not even looking like they are prepared to start signing anyone until after the World Cup is over by which time many of the players Arsenal will want to consider will probably have committed to other teams.

Manager Arsene Wenger will of course be enjoying himself while working for a French Television station during the World Cup and with a bit of luck might get to see how Karim Benzema looks playing alongside Olivier Giroud, something that he could see week in week out should he be willing to fork out the kind of money that Real Madrid would expect to receive for a striker that could very well be available should the Spanish giants make a move for Liverpool’s Luis Suarez.

Liverpool meanwhile will play hardball with Madrid over the Uruguayan but we all know that the player would never turn down the chance to join what for every South American would be a young boys dream, and despite the fact Liverpool will tell the world Suarez is not for sale you must remember that the club is owned by an American company that has no emotional involvement in the game.

Here at Soccer Transfers we are convinced that Liverpool would sell Suarez should the receive an offer in excess of the 100€ million that Real Madrid paid to Tottenham for Gareth Bale, and given the fact they would probably get £50 million for Benzema Real Madrid president Florentino Perez could afford to add his latest Galáctico to the team.

The option is there for Arsenal to buy the World-Class striker every Gooner wants to see come to the Emirates with all the following people available such as Jackson Martinez, Mario Mandžukić, Alexis Sanchez, Mario Balotelli, Edinson Cavani, Karim Benzema Edin Dzeko and even Samuel Eto’o available what is Arsenal waiting for?

It is even feasible that they could go after Suarez as well, but it seems to me that other than the slight chance of Benzema moving to the Emirates it will be business as usual for Arsene Wenger knowing that he has his main players now all tied down to long-term contracts some of the names we mentioned are only dreams with the reality being that Arsenal will end up with Loic Remy and a couple of other players with potential rather than the star player every Arsenal fan wants to see.
