Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard could be heading to the MLS if he fails to sign a new deal with Liverpool as the New York Red Bulls prepare to offer him a lucrative contract.
The “Big Apple” team who will be competing with new franchise New York City FC have put Gerrard on their MLS discovery list meaning that they will have first option of signing Gerrard ahead of any other MLS club.
Former Liverpool manager Gerard Houllier is the Red Bulls sporting director and it is thought that his strong relationship with Steven Gerrard could convince the Liverpool player to join the Reds Bulls where he would play alongside Manchester City and Charlton Athletic striker Bradley Wright-Phillips and former Everton Australian international Tim Cahill.
