According to French football journalist Julien Laurens QPR striker Loic Remy is Arsene Wenger’s number one summer transfer target.

Whist speaking to the Transfer Tavern Laurens pointed out that both the player and the north London club want to make this move a reality, and that a deal could be completed immediately following the World Cup.

“Remy wants to play Champions League football. Arsenal is his favourite destination and he is the forward that Arsene Wenger is following the most closely,”

“He tried to sign him before he went to Marseille a few years back and I think that if he performs well at the World Cup, then things could move quite quickly after that.”

Laurens thinks that Wenger has seen something in Remy that reminds him of former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry:

“Wenger likes his versatility, he can play on the right, on the left and in the centre and he is very much like a young Thierry Henry. I think that’s what is appealing for Wenger”.
