Darren Lewis a football journalist for the Daily Mirror says that with the arrival of Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa that he expects to see Fernando Torres leave Stamford Bridge.

Torres has struggled to live up to his British record transfer fee of £50 million since arriving from Liverpool on the last day of the transfer window in 2011 making 172 appearances for the Blues while managing to score just 45 goals.

“I think he knows that his future at Stamford Bridge is all but over,” Lewis told the Transfer Tavern.

“The likes of Inter Milan have taken a look at him, as have Atletico Madrid.

“[A return to Atletico] would be a wonderful homecoming for him and it may well be that he will feed off the confidence and love from the club that didn’t want lose him in the first place.

“As far as Torres is concerned, I don’t expect to see him in a Chelsea shirt next season. I think he’ll go elsewhere and I think he’ll take a pay cut to do so.”
