New Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has told Manchester United executive chairman Ed Woodward that he wants him to work on signing German stars Mats Hummels, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Thomas Muller while he is busy taking care of the Dutch national team during this summer’s World Cup finals in Brazil.

United’s new Dutch manager is currently focused on the World Cup but has told Woodward that he expects United to act decisively in what he has told them to do.

The chances of signing all three targets present a host of problems for United especially in the case of Mats Hummels who Dortmund does not want to sell.

Bayern Munich’s Bastian Schweinsteiger and Thomas Muller will also prove difficult yet a deal could be arranged as current manager Pep Guardiola does not think that Schweinsteiger is quick enough for his type of football while Muller also feels he is being marginalized by the new manager and has recently been seeking reassurances from the club.

Both Muller and Schweinsteiger thrived under van Gaal winning the German double and reaching the Champions league final in 2010.

Both players respect van Gaal and would have no trouble joining him at Old Trafford if they thought their careers were going nowhere with Guardiola.

Should United manage to sign all three players you can expect there to be no change left from £100 million, but given the fact van Gaal has £200 million at his disposal the three Germans would make a huge impact at Old Trafford.
