According to Spanish sports daily Marca, Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea has agreed to join Real Madrid in a deal worth £4 million per-year.

The 24-year-old contract would be between five and six years, but as of now the two clubs have yet to agree to the Spanish international’s transfer fee.

Manchester United had offered De Gea a whopping £140,000 per-week to remain at Old Trafford, but manager Louis van Gaal admitted he was powerless to keep De Gea if he decided to return home.

“I want him to stay. The player is the boss, he can say ‘yes’ or ‘no’,” said Van Gaal.

“You will have to ask David de Gea, not me. He has to sign. We have offered him a lot of money.”

Meanwhile De Gea was spotted on a flight to Madrid earlier this week, and did not turn up for training on Wednesday.

LVG has confided that United already has replacements in mind with both Tottenham’s Hugo Lloris and Stoke City’s Asmir Begovic prime candidates for the vacancy.
