What will Arsenal and Wenger decide?

Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, is under serious pressure form the fans as to whether a new contract should be signed or not.

With Wenger into his 20th season as manager of Arsenal, the fans have lost their patience with the performances of the squad in all competitions.

Though the Gunners’ manager has never been placed outside of the top four in his time at Arsenal, securing a Champions League position, the club needs to win silverware again.

Arsenal have won the Premier League three times under Wenger, but not winning the league title for over 10 years and not making signings to keep the club competing at the highest level has the fans losing faith in Wenger.

Arsenal are a rich club and Wenger has had money to spend on players as we have seen with the signings of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez. But the Arsenal fans want to see more quality players brought in.

The investments made into Chelsea and most recently, Manchester City, pushed Arsenal further away from the league title and Arsenal found it difficult to compete against the like of Barcelona and Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

This season, the same can be said again as the Gunners sit in fourth position, 13 points from the current league leaders Chelsea and trailing 5-1 to Bayern Munich in the Champions League round of 16.
An FA Cup Quarter Final awaits them and this looks the likeliest trophy Arsenal will win but there are plenty of top Premier League sides still in the competition too.

Arsenal’s stature is down to Wenger and the success he has had in previous years. The football played by his team brought in a new era of style and technicality to the Premier League and Arsenal were dominating for many years alongside Manchester United.

But the trophy less seasons has now taken a toll on the Arsenal supporters and many have stated their anger at Wenger’s philosophies.

Speculation as to whether Arsene Wenger will still be manager of Arsenal come the beginning of the season are mixed, as Wenger himself does not want to leave but the recent rumours of Massimiliano Allegri, current Juventus manager, moving to the Emirates has caused a stir.

The Metro newspaper recently reported that sources in Italy believe Allegri has told his family and friend that he will be manager of Arsenal next season.

And with the news of Luis Enrique leaving Barcelona at the end of the season, rumours of a switch between Wenger and Enrique could also be on the cards.

Arsene Wenger has certainly been one of the best managers in Premiership history but could it be time now for the two to part ways? Would that be the best decision for Arsenal Football Club?
