Although it was Portuguese Super agent Jorge Mendes that brokered the deal that might have landed former Chelsea manager the Manchester United job, reports have it that Mendes failed to deliver on his earlier promise to seal the same deal for Mourinho and Manchester United with Valencia midfielder Andre Gomes, who United have pursued for a long time.

According to Express, Juventus now seem like the 22-year-old’s new destination after news emerged the Old Lady are ready to met the £23 million valuation of him by Valencia. Juventus view Gomes as a good cover for Italian
international Claudio Marchisio who is out for six months after injuring his anterior cruciate ligament some weeks ago. He will reportedly sign a contract for five years with the Old Lady. Gomes has been the shinning light in an underachieving Valencia side who have had three different managers this season.

The midfielder arrived from Benfica last season and has gone on to score four goals in 37 games in all competitions for Los Che. It appears Jose Mourinho has been beaten to the signing of the Portuguese and hence might be forced to look elsewhere.

He was thought to be the likely replacement for Michael Carrick who according to many reports could be on his way out of the club this summer.
