Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos has called on Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea to join Real Madrid in the summer.

Ramos told Metro’s Sean Kearns ” If the people upstairs (at Real Madrid) think that De Gea is one of the best and they only look to sign the best players- then he (De Gea) has to come here”.

The Spanish goalkeeper, who played for Athletico Madrid prior to his move to United in 2012 has been one of the best in the world since his breakthrough season in Atletico.

De Gea nearly moved to Real Madrid before an 11th hour mistake thwarted the move last summer. He subsequently signed a new contract at United and has had an impressive season so far after seeing Argentine Romero take his place in the first few weeks of the season. This season he has been named in the PFA Team of the Year for the second time in his four years in the Premier League.

Currently earning £200,000-a-week in the North East, De Gea will face a stiff competition with current Costa Rican and Real Madrid’s No.1 Keylor Navas who has also impressed since his move to Bernebeu in 2014 from Levante.

It will be nice if Manchester United can manage to keep De Gea for another season however, as Ramos has rightly said Real Madrid will end up getting him if they want. What the 10 times Champions League winners use to convince players to join them, we will never know but we know Madrid gets what Madrid wants 99% percent of the time.
