Reports in today’s Sunday People suggest that once the World Cup is over Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho will make a move for his former Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira, feeling that he is the right man to partner with new signing Cesc Fabregas.

The 27-year-old German international is entering the final year of his contract with Real Madrid which encourages the Portuguese manager Mourinho into believing that Chelsea can sign him for as little as £15 million and easily afford to increase his current salary of £3 million per-year.

Khedira spent the vast part of last season out injured which delayed the Spanish giants from offering him a new contract, and with nothing yet happening Khedira would be eager to join up with his former boss at Stamford Bridge safe in the knowledge that he would be a starter in a team that will almost certainly be challenging for the Premiership title next season.

If you remember back to dressing room rift between the Portuguese speakers and the Spanish speakers in the Real Madrid dressing room while Mourinho was in charge at the Bernabeu the former Stuttgart man Khedira took no part in any of it staying loyal to Mourinho, and now it’s Mourinho’s turn to reward him for that Loyalty by signing him to a team that is on the rise.
