Chelsea striker Diego Costa’s hamstring injury appears to be much worse than the club first thought, with the Spanish international now set to miss the game against Manchester United.

Jose Mourinho threw the dice last week bringing the 26-year-old on as a substitute in the 2-1 win over Stoke, but Costa only managed ten minutes on the pitch before hobbling off with the same hamstring problem that has plagued him this season.

Chelsea had initially thought that Costa would only miss this weekend’s London derby with Queens Park Rangers, but according to reports in the Telegraph he will miss the match with United as well in the hope he will be fit for the crunch Arsenal game at the end of the month.
