According to Sky Sports sources both Chelsea and Barcelona are involved in talks over Atletico midfielder Koke who the Catalans regard as a replacement for Cesc Fabregas.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho meanwhile is looking to add Koke to his squad as he strengthens the team in preparation for next season.

The Madrid born Spanish international has been at Atletico his entire career and was pivotal in the club winning La Liga and making it to the final of the Champions League.

The 22-year-old just signed an extension to his contract in January which would see him remaining at the Vincente Calderon until 2018, and despite being flattered by the Barcelona interest he says he is happy to remain in Madrid.

He said: “I still haven’t had time to read what has come out. I am on holiday and I plan to disconnect.

“Barcelona is one of the best teams in the world and that they are interested in you means that you must be doing something right. That is very nice for a footballer.

“In any case, I only think about keeping working. I want to stay here and everyone knows it. I see myself at Atletico next season.”
