Arsenals pursuit of a striker continues after the Gunners have apparently lost out on Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata to Juventus.

Silvio Berlusconi is dampening down talks of a possible sale of Mario Balotelli until after a new manager has been appointed at the San Siro saying: “Will Balotelli stay? We have not decided about the market yet, neither for signings nor for sales,” Berlusconi told the Italian media.

“We are evaluating, anyway, new players, but to take decisions we must wait for the new coach”, he added.

This will come as a surprise to current manager Clarence Seedorf who apparently has been kept in the dark.

I read things like you,” Seedorf told Sky Sport Italia.

“But I haven’t information from the club and so I have nothing to say. I feel good and I’m trying to live these days with the family and friends, and I reaffirm to have not had indications from the club.”

Another name linked with Arsenal is Swansea City Wilfried Bony with the Swans saying they will not let him leave for less than his buyout clause of £19 million, which is a respectable figure when you consider the 25-year-old scored 25-goals in all competitions in his first Premiership season and is a starter for the Ivory Coast in this summer’s World Cup finals in Brazil.

The latest name to be linked with a move to the Emirates is that of PSG forward Jean-Christophe Bahebeck with the French champions quite happy to let the 21-year-old leave on a free contract providing they receive 50% of any sell on fee.

His agent Willie McKay said: ‘When you consider the prices being asked for English players of similar level it’s a very good deal. We have a lot of interest from English clubs.’

While Bahebeck may not be the marque signing Arsenal fans are waiting for let’s not forget that Karim Benzema could soon be available should Real Madrid decide to go after Luis Suarez.
