After having lost out on Thomas Muller when the German decided to pen a new long-term deal with the Bundesliga giants Manchester United has now decided to focus their attention on his Bayern and German international teammate Bastian Schweinsteiger.

According to the Daily Star United is prepared to pay up to £23 million for Schweinsteiger, a player incoming manager Louis van Gaal know well and rates highly after his time in charge at the Allianz Arena.

Van Gaal has over £200 million to spend on new players for United as he attempts to overhaul the team and with Schweinsteiger seemingly not quite adept to the Guardiola system of Tiki Taka football it is easy to see the Germans letting him leave.
