Spanish football website Fichajes.com  is today running a story that suggests Atletico Madrid with make a move for Manchester United’s Japanese international Shinji Kagawa who even before the arrival of Chelsea’s Juan Mata was not getting enough playing time under new manager David Moyes.

The 24-year-old Kagawa has already complained about his current situation as the World cup looms and this has alerted the high flying La Liga side keen to add to their ranks as they try to beat Real Madrid and Barcelona for the La Liga crown.

Kagawa has also been linked with a move back to his former club Borussia Dortmund but his agent, Thomas Kroth, insists the links with a move back to Germany are not true and that Mata’s possible arrival will not affect his future at Manchester United.

“At this moment I am sure Shinji will stay. There has been no contact and so it is just rumours,” Kroth told Sky Sports.

When asked if Mata joining Man Utd would affect Kagawa’s future at the club, he said: “No, it is my opinion that he will stay.”

Expect an offer to be made next week by Atletico for the Asian star despite what his agent says about him staying at Old Trafford.
