Last night here in Spain we were treated once more to a wonderful episode of the football show Punto Pelota in which the shows insider transfer man François Gallardo spoke of a plot by Arsenal to raid Real Madrid in the winter.
In what we come to expect with this show and the over dramatic delivery of the show’s hosts we saw Gallardo shift his glasses a few times until the music was just right to announce that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is obsessed both Karim Benzema and Raphael Varane, and that he will do everything that he can to take them away from Madrid in January.
Gallardo said:
An English team will try and strengthen in the winter by turning to Madrid to try to take two players of the Santiago Bernabéu.
Arsenal wants to reinforce their squad in the winter and will go for Benzema and Varane. Karim is the ‘darling’ of Wenger, who is obsessed with him, and Raphael is also admired, but the operation is not viable.
Karim, obviously, will not leave in January. It is unfeasible. The other player that Arsene has in mind is Raphael Varane. Wenger’s obsession will come to the fore in January, but neither transfer is workable.
