Arsenal and Tottenham to miss out on signing Alvaro Morata after Real Madrid beat Manchester United to the signing of Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal.

The Daily Express is this morning reporting that the Chilean international has become one of the most sought after midfielders in the world since joining the Serie A champions from Bayer Leverkusen in 2011 for £8.5 million.

Real Madrid trainer Carlo Ancelotti has been a long-time admirer of the man the Italian press calls “The Warrior” since his time at Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain and thinks that Vidal is the right man to take over from Xabi Alonso at the Santiago Bernabeau.

The 27-year-old was also considered to be a target of new Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal who reportedly has been given £200 million for new players.

What puts the deal in Madrid’s favour is that they can offer Arsenal and Spurs target Alvaro Morata as a part of the deal with the Italian club also willing to allow Real Madrid to put a buy back clause in the young striker’s contract.

In truth the buy-back clause gives Real Madrid all the cards in that should Morata perform well they would of course buy him back and should he not live up to expectations they can leave him at Juventus so in the long run it might be a blessing for Arsenal forcing them to buy a top striker rather than have what could have amounted to no more than a loan.
