Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is well aware of where he needs cover and has a list drawn up of eight new players Liverpool would like to sign this summer as he builds his squad for what he hopes will be a dramatic return to Champions League football.

Verdict: You can expect this to be a done deal after Moreno was left out of the Spain team for this summer’s World Cup and with the promise of Champions League football at Liverpool the 21-year-old is ready to sign. Expect positive news in the next few days.

Position: Striker
Value: £4m + add-ons
Verdict: Done deal expect news as early as today.
Name: Dejan Lovren
Age: 24
Club: Southampton
Position: Centre-half
Value: £15m
Verdict: Liverpool need a centre-back but a deal could be in trouble with Spurs new boss Mauricio Pochettino also keen on the Croatian.

Verdict: Wage demands could see this deal fall apart but it will not be for Liverpool’s lack of trying.
