At last it would appear Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is going to make a signing that every Gooner will like as the Frenchman gets ready to make a £35 million offer to Real Madrid for French international striker Karim Benzema.

Benzema has scored 22 goals in 46 appearances this season yet like Gareth Bale has failed to get the fans to like him.

Arsene Wenger knows he must add quality player to his squad in order to have any chance of mounting a title challenge, and with cash reserves of nearly £140 million he could easily afford to make Benzema the clubs marquee summer signing.

The 27-year-old is just the kind of striker Arsenal needs, and will link up well with his former teammate Mesut Ozil and new boy Alexis Sanchez, leaving Wenger now free to sign a defensive midfielder (Morgan Schneiderlin) and goalkeeper (Petr Cech).

Benzema will not come cheap though demanding a wage of around £220,000 per-week, but if Wenger still wants to win the Premiership and possibly the Champions League, these are the type of wages he must be prepared to pay to attract the game’s elite players.
