Arsenal is to consider signing Dutch international Nigel de Jong from AC Milan after the 29-year-old is said to be upset that his friend Clarence Seedorf has been fired from his job with the Italian giants according to the Daily Mirror.

The former Manchester City player has been talking about returning to play in the Premiership ever since former Italy international Filippo Inzaghi took over from Seedorf at the San Siro.

The rumour is that both Arsenal and Harry Rednapp’s QPR will sound out De Jong to see how he would feel about moving to London.

Rednapp is a big fan of the holding midfielder who has a reputation as being a bit of a hard man even before his studs up challenge on Xabi Alonso in the 2010 World Cup final.

De Jong has 12-month remaining on his current contract, but seems ready to leave now that his friend has been sacked.
