According to talkSPORT Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen has agreed to join Manchester United after having spent most of last season in the wings for Arsenal.

The Daily Telegraph says that a deal between United and Arsenal has been agreed in principle, and that the Belgium international will leave the Emirates for £10 million to sign a contract with United that will see him earn £100,000 per-week.

The 28-year-old Vermaelen only has one year remaining on his contract with Arsenal, and after the club managed to tie down all of their first team players to new long term contracts yet did not offer a new deal to the Belgium it was obvious to all that he was on his way out.

Currently the centre –back is on international duty with Belgium for this summer’s World Cup in Brazil.
