Arsenal can forget about trying to sign Draxler

Horst Heldt the chief at Bundesliga side Schalke has said that star player Julian Draxler will remain with them next season.

Arsenal went all out to sign the young German in January but failed to meet Schalke’s valuation of their star player leading to speculation that Arsenal would be back in the summer to try again.

The youngster has also been linked to Bundesliga champs Bayer Munich, but the man in charge Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has stated that he has no interest in signing Draxler.

The 20-year-old Draxler has four-years left on his contract with the Gelsenkirchen club and a release clause of £35 million that Heldt does not believe will be met telling Sky Sports:

“I definitely believe that he will be staying at our club for the new season.

“Julian (Draxler) is an important player in our squad, he is playing regular matches and he is doing quite well.”

Meanwhile Draxler has played down a spat over the weekend with Coach Jens Keller during the match with Hertha Berlin saying: “We had contrasting views on a certain situation and had a discussion. We came to the conclusion that I was right [laughs]. No, we had a misunderstanding, but it was nothing serious.”

Keller added: “It was about running paths…we discussed it and Julian was right. Empowered players are no problem for me. “
