The Ox looks up to Gerrard

Arsenal winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has according to Sky Sports told the British daily tabloid Sun newspaper that he sees Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard as the perfect role model.

And with Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger seeing Oxlade-Chamberlin’s future in central midfield rather than out on the wing the England captain would not be a bad choice to model yourself on.

Oxlade-Chamberlin is hoping to line up with Gerrard at this summer’s World Cup in Brazil, and admits that training with Gerrard has helped him to improve his game saying: “Stevie is a sensational player and one of my all-time favourites.”

“I can take so much of what he does. That is my job – to try and get to a similar standard.

“That is easier said than done, but being able to train with him improves me as a player.

“It would be great to be selected for the World Cup but you have to work hard. That means I have to keep playing well for Arsenal.”
