Reports coming out of Spain this morning carried by the Daily Star suggest that both Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger and Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers are locked in a bidding war to sign Sevilla centre-back Federico Fazio.
The Argentinian defender was a shining light in the Spanish clubs La Liga season and also played a pivotal role in leading them to Europa Cup glory.
Sevilla meanwhile are eager to keep the 27-year-old at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, but will consider offers above their £8 valuation as Arsenal look to strengthen their back and Liverpool looks to plug up a defence that allowed far too many goals last season.
The two Premiership sides could also face competition from Catalan giants Barcelona with their new trainer Luis Enrique seeing Fazio as a direct replacement for Carlos Puyol.
