Jose Mourinho is ready to pounce on Argentinian striker Mauro Icardi this summer after the Inter Milan player told the press that he will “pack bags and leave” should the Italian club decide to sell him.

New manager Roberto Mancini is looking to overhaul the squad this summer, but he will also be required to balance the books and with the 22-year-old valued at around £30 million, his sale would go a long way in helping Mancini achieve his goal.

‘If Inter decides to sell me, I’ll pack my bags and go,’ he told CNN.

The striker did confirm that his agent has been speaking to interested parties, but as yet no deals have been made leaving the door open for Chelsea to move in for a player to battle Diego Costa for the Blues starting place.

‘Regarding my pay, my salary, that I don’t ‘earn a lot,’ these are things that are a result of two years ago when I came to Inter,’ he said.

‘To me, it was a good contract for having arrived at Inter.

‘Now, after two years, I still have this contract that people are talking about, but my agents are speaking to the club, they’re coming to an agreement, they’re seeing how to fix this situation.’
