‘Little Pea’ Javier Hernandez spared their blushes with a brace as United came from behind for the eighth time in 12 games.

Boss Ferguson said: “It’s unbelievable — I can’t understand it. I can’t get to the bottom of it at all. It has been difficult for us this season.”

Fergie’s call to play a makeshift back-four backfired, with Alexander Buttner and Michael Carrick at fault as United fell 2-0 behind inside 20 minutes.

But two superb headed goals from Hernandez and a scuffed effort from Jonny Evans won it.

Ferguson forced a grin as he commented: “We can certainly produce exciting evenings!

“We will get to the bottom of it, I am sure of that. But if you analyse the goals we are losing, they are all different types. So it is difficult to put my finger on it.

“The forwards get us out of the hole.”

Hernandez, 24, has hardly had a look-in this season after the arrival of Robin van Persie.

Ferguson added: “He trains magnificently. With him, Van Persie, Rooney and Welbeck, I don’t know what you do with them.”

Hernandez said: “I’ve got nothing to prove. I’m enjoying it here even if I’m not playing much.

“It’s not about who is the hero — it is about getting the three points.”
