Following Liverpool’s 3-2 win over Tottenham Tuesday night, manager Brendan Rodgers immediately left Anfield to catch a flight to Rome.

Pictures on social media show the Northern Irishman posing outside the Vatican, with the Daily Mail saying that he was not in Italy to attend a match, but was doing the groundwork needed for the Reds to sign AS Roma’s £25 million Bosnian international midfielder Miralem Pjanic who Rodgers sees a replacement for Steven Gerrard.

The Liverpool manager left his assistant Colin Pascoe is charge at Anfield, and he was not forth coming when asked where Rodgers had disappeared to.

“He had to get off sharpish after the game for a meeting in Europe,” Pascoe said.
“It is a club matter and none of your business.”

Rodgers is expected to be back in the U.K. in time to be in charge of Liverpool’s Fifth round FA Cup match against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday.

Here is a video of the Roma player below; do you think he will be a good signing to replace Gerrard?
