LINE-UP: Chelsea team to play MK Dons

Outgoing Premier League champions Chelsea may be struggling to return to the glory days. However, they have been hit with a shocking wage request.

Teenager Dominic Solanke is demanding a £50k-a-week deal if he is to extend his contract at the club, the 18-year-old who is currently on loan at Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem is set to return once the season ends. According to the Independent, the player having seen the likes of Kenedy, Bertrand Traore, Jake Clarke-Salter and Loftus-Cheek all played vital role in the club this season, he is reported to be eager to feature in the club’s first team also.

He has played 22 goals this season for ninth-placed Vitesse, recording a modest seven goals for them. He is on course to return back this season but they will have to match his excessive wage demand. Chelsea are in a tight corner in this deal because his contract runs out in this summer and with Arsenal lurking around, they are at risk of losing one of their highly-rated youngster.

He currently earns around £8,000 a week but seeing Ruben Loftus-Cheek who signed a new contract in February take home a whooping £60,000 wage package may have stirred the greed in him.

It remains to be seen how the club’s management will handle this debacle but it is in best interest that they secure the player at the club lest they buy him for a massive transfer fee when he becomes a star.
