West Brom must wait to sign Liverpool striker

West Bromwich Albion has held yet more talks over the transfer of Liverpool striker Rickie Lambert, and yet while all the major issues between the two clubs seem to have been ironed out, the Baggies will have to wait until next week to complete the deal with Lambert not ready to fly home from Liverpool’s pre-season tour of Australia and the Far East.

The 33-year-old is due to face a Malaysian XI Friday in Kuala Lumpur, but will not probably take part due to his impending move to the Midlands.

The former Southampton striker still has 12 months remaining on his contract with Liverpool, which means the fee is expected to be around £3 million, with the framework already in place for Lambert to complete a medical and sign on the dotted line to become West Brom’s second signing of the summer.
